I was born and grew up in Denmark where I learnt the traditional skills of knitting, crochet ,sewing and Embroidery. I have since enjoyed the challenge of doing the C&G Creative Embroidry courses parts 1&2 and continue to learn and develop my creativity.
Inspiratons includes Danish and Scandinavian Folk Textiles and Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales. Other work is inspired by Chinese, Pakistani and Indian folk Textiles, the Silk Road, Miss Willmotts Garden at Warley Place, the plant hunter ‘Chinese Wilson’ and the Warner Textile Archive.
My favorite textile tecnique is fabric printing with wood, string and lino blocks on reclaimed and dyed fabric. The printed fabric is enhanced by eiter hand or machine embroidery incorporating applique, stitched cords and manipulated fabrics.
Exhibitions include theV&A, the Knitting and Stiching shows, the Warner Archive, Ramster, ERTF, and with VISION at the Rhodes Gallery.
I give talks on my work and on Scandinavian Folk Costumes and Domestic textiles and show examples from my extensive collection of textiles dating from about 1800 to the present day, many found in Danish charity shops I also do demonstrations and workshop including fabric printing and stitched brooches
