About Margaret

Embroidery Tutor Workshop:- Hand textures in fabric and thread Author:- Textured Surfaces in Fabric and Thread Medieval Flushwork of East Anglia and it’s Symbolism. Having tried many techniques over the years including mixed media in my textiles I now use only white natural fabric and thread. I was disillusioned with mixed media leaving the fabric hard or crusty and felt I wanted the simplicity of creating with just fabric. I explore it’s possibilities especially with regard to experimenting with a variety of textures and manipulations. This results in a complex surface full of interest. Finished work is then dyed. My research for the textures has come from rock formations, caves and cenotes around the world which for me is a never ending fascination. My recent works are small scale 3D sculptures which because of fabric manipulation need no other supports than the fabric.
